George Frazier dies at age 68: A former pitcher and Rockies analyst

George Frazier, a former big league pitcher and club announcer, died on June 19, 2023. The Colorado Rockies issued a statement expressing their heartfelt sympathies for Frazier’s passing.

He was 68 years old at the time of his death. He slept in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His particular cause of death is unclear. However, he had been suffering from an unexplained ailment.

Frazier spent ten years in the big leagues, playing for the Cardinals, Yankees, Indians, Cubs, and Twins. He participated in two World Series throughout his playing career, the first with the Yankees in 1981 and the second with the Twins in 1987.

George Frazier was judged responsible for three defeats in the 1981 World Series, which the Yankees lost in six games to the Dodgers. Over three seasons in The Bronx, Frazier appeared in 140 games with a 3.25 ERA. In his last season in the big leagues, Frazier got the coveted World Series ring.

He made one bullpen appearance for the Twins in Game 4 of the seven-game series against St. Louis, surrendering only one hit over two innings while striking out one hitter. In his 10-year career, Frazier never made a start and went 35-43 with a 4.20 ERA.

George Frazier joined the Colorado broadcast crew when his playing career ended in 1998 and stayed until 2015.
